This costume is a recreation of the one worn by Helena Bonham Carter in her role as Bellatrix LeStrange in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. My client requested that the costume should be similar to the original, but not completely movie-accurate. She wanted to be able to wear her corset with other costumes, so instead of the distinctive tooled leather corset like Bellatrix has in the movie, I created this patchwork leather corset over two layers of cotton canvas with steel boning. As per my client's request, the hem on this dress reaches the floor, and there is no distressing on this costume. The dress is made of polyester chiffon over a layer of cotton knit. All of the silver swirls were hand stamped in two shades of silver textile paint.
